Introduction

I am a huge fan of films and I’ve previously visualized all the films that I have watched in the past 5 years for #IronViz 2021. Looking back, I think it wasn’t a good piece. I was visualizing data with no clear message. This is also why I wanted to create a film-related data visualization. In this blog post, I will outline how the data visualization “Films of A24” came about.

Inspiration

On 15 November, I had just watched A Ghost Story, an A24 film directed by David Lowery. The movie lasted only 90 minutes, but it was packed with emotions and left me pondering over the meaning of life. I always had the impression that A24 movies were always something different because I have watched quite a few. All of a sudden, these thoughts crossed my mind:
